Who is it for?

This course is for anyone who wants to explore mark making and texture techniques. If you want to develop your own creative style, enjoy being playful and experimental with your materials or would like to try to introduce these elements into your work. This course can help you to develop a deeper connection to your own creative 'handwriting'

What you need

Previous experience with painting and drawing is not required to take this course. If you have a desire to experiment any materials you have can be adapted to use with these techniques. However I recommend using the best materials you can afford.

Materials

This is a basic list. A more extensive list is available in the course for each artwork created.

  • Drawing materials. willow charcoal, compressed charcoal, graphite, pencil and eraser

  • Any permanent ink such as acrylic or indian ink and mark making tools such as a dip pen, a feather, a sponge and so on

  • Acrylic paint - primary colours, black and white

  • 2-4 sheets of cartridge paper, 1-2 sheets of watercolour paper, 1-2 sheets of heavyweight smooth paper such as watercolour or acrylic paper

  • range of brushes, jar for water, palette, kitchen paper etc

Rebecca (Bec) Yoxall is an artist and tutor based in Cheshire UK, who is known for her loose and expressive style in a wide variety of materials and subjects.
